Our Story

Fast Forward

So here’s the story. First published in 2014, BuyMarylandDirectory.com was – and continues to be – the only showcase for products made throughout Maryland by a host of manufacturers, makers, artists, crafts persons, and agribusinesses. We began with those companies and organizations being featured at the time in separate venues by TPRG’s Maryland With Pride (MWP), the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland (RMI), and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Main Stret Maryland Program.

Our modest but enthusiastic trio of Maryland product advocates came together again this year to infuse a brand new Buy Maryland Directory with 2024 digital features. Happily, our new bells and whistles include more picturesque and interactive navigations; website, social media, and QR code enabled listings; and updated market analytics support that we can use to promote brand and point of sale awareness. With your continued support – help us spread the word – we plan to grow this new showcase from hundreds to thousands of listings for your shopping pleasure!

More Media

BuyMarylandDirectory.com has always been more than your average product directory. In fact, the directory is just one of the ways that shoppers engage with the Maryland-made brands featured in our listings. Participating producers and sellers enroll in Maryland With Pride. So you’ll also find their Maryland-made brands featured in MWP social media posts, shopping guides, email notices, gift baskets, events venues, and more.

The Community

Operated by TPR’s Chris Plater, Maryland With Pride promotes awareness of the strength and diversity of Maryland-made products and “Buy Maryland.” Team work on  projects and events over the years inspired RMI President Mike Galiazzo to coin the slogan, Make It To Main Street, in support of Maryland With Pride’s and RM’s collaboration with DHCD’s Main Street Program to launch the directory. Chris maintains the directory year-round, featuring listings for Maryland-made goods across Maryland and beyond.

A State of Maryland business and economic development department retiree, Chris describes the initiative as a community engagement adventure. “When Marylanders go into a store or online to shop, I want them to be aware of the brands that employ their family members and friends.”

Maryland With Pride members report sales from shoppers across the State and the country. In addition to everyday purchases and items to celebrate special personal and corporate occasions, there’s interest from tourists who want Maryland-made souvenirs, Maryland snowbirds, as well as college students and retirees living out-of-state who want the taste and feel of home.
